Radical Knitwear

Stoll Knitting, seamless dress 2001.
This dress combines two - colour knitting and intergral knitting in one garment, requiring only neckline and armhole finishing. Note the fully fashioned around the colour divide.

Here openwork manipulated lace knitting in shimmering yarns is coated in silcone, giving an otherworldly, slightly reptilian quality to the piece. The flimsy fabric is given weight by the silicone, bringing vision and touch into the contradiction.
