Leonie Branston, coated knitting, summer 1994.Here openwork manipulated lace knitting in shimmering yarns is coated in silcone, giving an otherworldly, slightly reptilian quality to the piece. The flimsy fabric is given weight by the silicone, bringing vision and touch into the contradiction.
